We are incredibly blessed to be Canadian Celebrants who welcome and happily create wedding ceremonies for same sex, LGBTQ+ couples. These couples and their ceremonies are extra special. Many have loved and been committed to each other for years, sometime decades. Such was the case with the two fab Aussie gals I guided in ceremony last fall. They wrote this note to me on Valentines Day (how awesome that they thought of me!). I feel the love, ladies!!!
“A beautiful Sunday morning here in Sydney and as we celebrate Valentine’s Day we are reflecting on our good fortune in this life. We live in a beautiful part of the world, have food on the table, feel safe to walk the streets, have access to health care and above all else have each other to wake up to and come home to every night.
It’s been six months since you married us in Vancouver and we both agree being married has brought a deeper dimension to our relationship. Although we cannot put our finger on the subtle change, it is different and we proudly wear our rings as a symbol of our love and commitment. We often talk about how perfect our day was and how you captured our journey and our love for each other in our wedding ceremony.Thank you !!
As we approach Mardis Gras one of the world’s biggest LGBT celebrations, and all of Sydney turns pink, our government still struggles to address same sex marriage!
Much love to you Michele and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!”
